The 2011 A Gathering of Eagles Air Show was my first time covering this event. Not show how I had missed this great air show for so long, but be assured, I won't miss it again! The air show is a step back into time, closer to the barn storming days of aviation rather than the modern jet fighters of today. The show also has a large section of war re-enactment displays which assures the proud history of our veterans will be passed on to the younger generations. Visit the United States Aviation Museum website for information on the group as well as the next air show.
While covering this year's air show, I was offered a media ride in the Yankee Air's B-17G SuperFortress. The plane has been restored and is maintained by the Yankee Air Museum in Ypsilanti, Michigan. If you are interested in buying a ride on this beautiful B-17G, please visit the Yankee Air Museum website for more info. They also hold an annual air show, Thunder over Michigan, which is another must see show! You can see my photos of their other planes by visiting the Yankee Air Museum photo gallery.
